Ferris State Women's Basketball Head Coach Colleen Lamoreaux-Tate Announces Resignation

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University women's basketball head coach Colleen Lamoreaux-Tate, who has guided the Bulldog program for the past three seasons and led FSU to an 11-14 overall record in 2014-15, announced her resignation today (March 31) to focus on family and health concerns.

"Knowing Colleen, this was an extremely difficult decision for her to make," said FSU Athletics Director Perk Weisenburger. "We respect that it was made with the best interests of her family and her health in mind. I want to thank Colleen for the commitment, passion and energy that she gave this program from day one and we wish her happiness and success as she moves forward.

"Colleen will remain with our program at Ferris State thru May 1," he added.

In her three seasons at the Bulldog helm, Ferris State compiled an overall record of 34-41 (.453) under Lamoreaux-Tate's direction, which included a trip to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament in her initial campaign.

"Coaching is a very rewarding and demanding profession and after this past season, in which I had a health scare, I learned that my family and health are what's most important to me," said Lamoreaux-Tate. "Since the end of our season, I have prayed for wisdom and the ability to decide what is best along with the strength to act upon that knowledge. I plan to use the passion and energy God blessed me with in determining the next stage of my life. This was extremely difficult, but at this point in time this is what's best for me and my family.

"I want to thank Ferris State, the tremendous young ladies that I have had the pleasure of coaching for the past three seasons, their parents, the Big Rapids community and the athletic department for their friendship and support," she added. "I wish everyone associated with the program, especially the young ladies who I love, nothing but the best."

The search to fill the head women's basketball coaching position will begin as soon as possible.

"We will work to post the opening as quickly as we can so that the search for her replacement can begin," said Weisenburger. "The next head coach will inherit a program with tradition, tremendous potential and will have a lot to sell in terms of what Ferris State provides educationally and athletically as a member of the GLIAC."
