Ferris State Women's Basketball Wins GLIAC Home Opener Over Northwood

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State women's basketball squad defeated the Northwood University Timberwolves on Thursday (Dec. 6) evening 76-63 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at Jim Wink Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.

The Bulldogs came out of the first quarter trailing 24-19 before knotting the contest up at 38 points at halftime. FSU then used a decisive 24-13 margin in the third period to take control en route to the win.

Sophomore guard Adrienne Anderson led the way with 24 points while junior forward Brayenne Benner had 17 points in the victory and junior center Lilly George added 10 points.

Defensively, the Bulldogs were led by sophomore guard Shaniya Huggins with 12 rebounds while junior Renee Sturm added seven boards.

The Timberwolves were led by forward Hunter Viitala with 11 points and 6 rebounds while guard Adrianna Stolicker chipped in 10 points. As a team, NU made 19 of 54 field goals (35%) and 10 of 28 three pointers (36%).

Ferris State finished the game shooting 56.6% from the floor and 71.4% at the line in the victory. The Bulldogs totaled a 36-27 rebounding edge and notched nine steals while forcing 18 turnovers in the triumph.

The Bulldogs will host the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals on Saturday (Dec. 8) in another GLIAC matchup at Wink Arena in Big Rapids, Mich. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. (ET).
