Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball season kept its season alive on Wednesday (March 2) night as the Bulldogs earned a 82-68 win over visiting Saginaw Valley State in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Quarterfinals inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

With the win, the top-seeded Bulldogs now advance to face third-seeded Wayne State in the GLIAC Semifinals on Saturday in Allendale with tipoff set for 4:30 p.m. (ET) following the first semifinal between top-seeded host Grand Valley State and fourth-seeded Michigan Tech that begins at 2 p.m.

In Wednesday's quarterfinals, the Bulldogs beat the Cardinals for the second time in three matchups this season, putting together one of their best performances down the stretch to pull away for the victory.

Four of five Bulldog starters reached double-figure scoring with the fifth finishing only a single point shy.

The Bulldogs were led by senior guard Adrienne Anderson, who totaled 22 points with seven assists and five rebounds. Sophomore Kadyn Blanchard added 21 points and seven boards with junior guard Mallory McCartney totaling 17 points, 10 assists and five steals.

FSU also got 11 points from Chloe Idoni on the front line in addition to nine points, five rebounds and four assists from senior forward Zoe Anderson.

The Bulldogs connected on 50% of their field goals and went 12-of-26 (46.2%) from the three-point arc while hitting 18-of-21 (85.7%) free throws. The Bulldogs also outrebounded the visiting Cardinals 31-27 for the night.

Saginaw Valley State, which saw its season come to a close with a 16-11 overall record, was led by Maddie Maloney with 13 points. Both Tori DePerry and Kaitlyn Zarycki added 10 points each with Rachel Rustad adding 11 points off the bench.

The Cardinals shot 48.1% for the evening and finished eight-of-21 (38.1%) behind the three-point line to go with an eight-of-11 (72.7%) effort at the charity stripe. SVSU had 15 turnovers and the Bulldogs had 14 overall.

Ferris State trailed 16-10 after the opening period, but outscored the Cardinals in each of the final three periods to move to 20-9 overall this season. The total included a 22-13 margin in the second frame and a 29-20 edge in the fourth to close the game.

The Bulldogs, who are making their fifth-straight appearance in the GLIAC Tournament and 19th berth overall, advance to the GLIAC Semifinals for the first time since 2017-18 and only the second time since 2012. FSU has finished as the tournament runner-up three different times.
