Ferris State Notches 10th Win Of Season By Beating Lake Superior State

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad earned its 10th win of the year on Saturday (Jan. 7) night as the Bulldogs rolled to a 81-57 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) victory over Lake Superior State inside Jim Wink Arena.

The Bulldogs trailed 14-13 after the opening quarter, but outscored LSSU 26-16 in the second quarter to take control. FSU won the third period 21-14 and put 21 more points up on the board in the final quarter while holding the Lakers to only 13 in the frame.

The Bulldogs shot 40.8% from the floor and went 11-of-34 (32.4%) from long range along with 12-of-16 (75%) at the free throw line in the win.

Ferris State was led by senior forward Chloe Idoni with 18 points and 11 rebounds in a double-double performance. Senior guard Mallory McCartney added 15 points and five assists while Kenzie Bowers chipped in 12 points and freshman Mia Riley netted 11 points off the bench.

FSU had only nine turnovers in the contest and forced 20 Lake Superior State mistakes. In addition, FSU tallied 11 offensive rebounds and outscored the Lakers 11-3 on the offensive glass in addition to 24-11 on the break.

The Lakers converted 38.2% of their field goals, but were only three-of-12 (25%) from the three-point arc and 12-of-21 (57.1%) at the line.

LSSU was led by CeCe Hacker with 18 points and Margot Woughter, who scored 11 points.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 10-4 overall and 3-2 in the GLIAC.

The Bulldogs will host Purdue Northwest in GLIAC play on Thursday (Jan. 12) starting at 5:30 p.m. (ET) inside Jim Wink Arena.
