Bio

Rick Bloodworth wrapped up his fifth season as a volunteer assistant coach at Ferris in 2010-11, but brings along a wealth of coaching experience.

Bloodworth, who's the father of FSU head coach Tracey Dorow, most recently served from 1987 to 2006 as a collegiate head women's basketball junior college coach at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor, Mich.  In addition, he served as the head girls basketball coach at St. Joseph (Mich.) High School from 1976 to 2006.

Bloodworth posted an overall basketball head coaching record of 879-472 during his tenure at the prep and collegiate levels.

In addition to serving as the head girls coach at St. Joseph, Bloodworth also was the boys basketball coach from 1982-86.  He was the school's softball coach from 1982-97 after serving as the boys tennis coach from 1975-81.  Bloodworth received his coaching start by leading the boys basketball team at Adrian Madison High School in 1970-71.

A 1970 University of Michigan graduate, Bloodworth played collegiate basketball for the Wolverines from 1966-70.  While at UM, he was a teammate and roommate of Rudy Tomjanovich, who later became head coach of the NBA's Houston Rockets.

As a prepster, Bloodworth participated in basketball, baseball and football for Ferndale High School.  He helped guide the Eagles to Michigan Class A state hoops titles in both 1963 and 1966 while earning all-conference and all-state laurels.

Bloodworth, who enjoys playing tennis, currently resides in St. Joseph along with his wife, Joyce.  The couple also has one other daughter, Andrea, who is an assistant women's basketball coach at NCAA-I Liberty University.
