
Ferris State Women's Golf Run Ends With Seventh-Place Finish At NCAA East Regional
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team had its NCAA East Regional Tournament run come to an end on Wednesday (May 8) as the Bulldogs wrapped up play with a seventh-place tying overall team finish at the Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.
Ferris State fnished only seven shots away from a top-five finish and an opportunity to advance to the national championships in the 15-team regional event.
The Bulldogs closed the 54-hole tournament with a three-round 949 team figure to finish at +85 for the three days of action. FSU lowered its score each round, shooting a 318 in day one play followed by a 316 on Tuesday and a 315 final-round total.
Overall, Findlay and host Indianapolis tied for first place at +41 overall while Grand Valley State came in third (+56), Ashland fourth (+65) and Davenport fifth (+78). All five schools advanced to the D2 championships. Missouri-St. Louis was sixth (+83) while both FSU and Gannon tied for seventh.
The Bulldogs were led by Dani Staskowski, who shot a 234 total for a share of 23rd place overall. She finished with an 81 in the final round on Wednesday.
FSU's Kamryn Shannon came in tied for 33rd in the field, notching a final-round 75 for a 238 figure. Behind her was Lizzie Anderson in a share of 35th place as she carded an 80 over the final 18 holes to close with a 239 three-day total.
Both Hallie Crozier and Taylor Musselman rounded out the FSU lineup tied for 53rd overall as both totaled 247 scores. Crozier shot a 79 in the last round while Musselman notched an 84 on Wednesday.
This year's berth marked the Bulldogs' third-straight NCAA Tourney berth. Two years ago, the Bulldogs placed 11th at the East Regional Championships in their first team trip to the postseason since 2014 when FSU finished fourth overall in the regional championships. The Bulldogs previously made 13 consecutive NCAA appearances from 2002 to 2014. Last season, Ferris State also placed seventh overall in the East Regional in Springfield, Ill.
Prior to earning an at-large bid this year, Ferris State reached the NCAA Tourney last year as the GLIAC's automatic qualifier after winning the league championship for the first time since 2007 during the 2023 spring season in Augusta, Mich. This year, the Bulldogs reached the conference semifinals back in mid-April in Augusta.
