
Ferris State Women's Golf Finishes As Runner-Up At Home Invite; Shannon Earns Medalist Honors

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team recorded its second tournament runner-up finish in as many days as FSU came in second overall at its own Bulldog Fall Classic on Monday (Oct. 7) at FSU's Katke Golf Course.
The Bulldogs, who took second place over the weekend at the Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invite in Allendale, came back to notch a +49 figure on Monday over 36 holes of competition on their home course in Big Rapids. FSU shot rounds of 315 and 310 in Monday's competition and wound up only seven shots behind team champion Grand Valley State.
Individually, Bulldog junior golfer Kamryn Shannon notched her first collegiate win by taking individual medalist honors. She finished the day at +5 overall for the two rounds, carding a 149 total with scores of 74 in round one and 75 in round two while topping runner-up Charlotte Goersch of GVSU by two shots. Shannon had carded a school-record round of 68 on Sunday at the Laker Fall Invite.
FSU's Hallie Crozier posted scores of 79 and 76 in rounds one and two, respectively, on Monday to garner seventh place overall with a 155 total.
The Bulldogs' Lizzie Anderson fired a 160 total with scores of 81 in round one and 79 in round two for 17th place overall.
Meanwhile, Taylor Musselman tied for 18th in the field with a 161 figure, shooting a 81 in the first round and an 80 in round two.
Ferris State's Kylie Walker shot an 82 in the first round followed by an 81 in round two and placed tied for 21st with a 163 total.
Additionally, Ferris State's Ashley Thomasma competed as an individual and finished tied for 12th in the field with a 158 stroke total on rounds of 80 and 78 overall. FSU's Katelyn Walker also took part in the tourney as an individual and wound up 34th overall at 172 with scores of 86 in both the first and second rounds. The Bulldogs' Lauren Kempf also was in the field individually and tied for 37th on Monday with scores of 84 and 92 for a 176 finish.
Ferris State will close out its fall season on Oct. 21-22 at the St. Leo Invitational in Dade City, Fla.
