
Bulldog Women's Golf Places Ninth At South Carolina Tourney
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team came away with a ninth-place overall team finish at the Oldfield Intercollegiate Tourney, which took place on Monday and Tuesday, March 17-18, in Okatie, S.C.
The event was hosted by USC Beaufort at the Oldfield Club and featured a total of 15 teams, including eight ranked among the top 42 in the country.
The 54-hole tournament was won by SCAD Savannah, which is ranked third nationally and shot a +43 figure overall. East Florida State, ranked fifth, came in second at +49 for the event with Indianapolis third (+60).
Ferris State shot a 948 figure at +84 for the three rounds in coming in ninth overall.
FSU was led by Lizzie Anderson, who finished tied for 6th in the field at 226 for the tourney. She shot rounds of 76 in the first followed by back-to-back 75 scores the last two rounds.
Ferris State's Kamryn Shannon shot a 234 and placed tied for 22nd overall with scores of 81 in round two, a 75 in round two and a final-round 78 score.
The Bulldogs' Kylie Walker came in tied for 41st with a 241 total as she notched an 83 in the first round before totaling scores of 79 in each of the final two rounds.
Taylor Musselman tied for 60th for FSU, shooting a 249 score on rounds of 81 in the first, 86 in the second and 81 in the third.
Also, Ashley Thomasma placed tied for 71st in the field at 254 overall. She notched an 88 in the opening round before coming back with an 84 in round two and an 82 over the final 18 holes of play.
Ferris State's Lauren Kempf also competed as an individual and finished 85th overall with a 273 score. She shot a 100 in the first round, but then posted scores of 93 in round two and an 80 in the final round.
The Bulldogs will next head to the Findianapolis Intercollegiate on March 31 and April 1 in Laconia, Ind.
