Ferris State Women's Soccer Lands Bay City's Emily Kraska

Emily Kraska (Bay City/John Glenn) is the newest addition to the Ferris State University women's soccer program and will embark on her collegiate career starting this fall  in an announcement made by Ferris State head coach Neathan Gibson.

Kraska, a 5-4 forward, was a Division II All-State Second-Team performer as a junior for the 2009 season at Bay City (Mich.) John Glenn High.  She also achieved all-regional and all-district team accolades a season ago along with being tabbed a first-team All-North East Michigan Conference selection.  Kraska was also a repeat pick on the Bay City Times' Dream Team.

"Emily is a significant addition to our program," said Gibson.  "She will give the Bulldogs some very much needed pace in its now established attacking game.  Emily has a wonderful "never give up" attitude both on and off the field which will make her a successful student-athlete."

As a junior in her first year at Bay City John Glenn, Kraska produced 52 points with 23 goals and six assists for head coach Fran MacMillan's team.  The Bobcats, who were regional finalists in 2009, concluded the season ranked fourth in state for Division II while claiming both conference and district tournament titles.

Kraska  totaled 40 points on 16 goals and eight assists in her 2008 sophomore year at Bay City Western, who went 11-11 overall record.  She was chosen as the squad's Best Offensive Player and attained all-district team recognition.  Kraska was named to the Midland Daily News' All-Area Dream Team after landing a spot on the 2008 Saginaw Valley Conference (SVC) Division I First Team.

A 2007 All-SVC Second-Team performer, Kraska was the recipient of the team's Most Valuable Player Award as a freshman in which she generated 30 points with 15 goals and nine assists as the Warriors compiled a 15-4-1 ledger.  A three-year varsity girls' soccer letterwinner between Bay City John Glenn and Western High Schools, Kraska has been competing for the Vardar North Club Team since 2005.

The daughter of Ron Kraska and Mary Kay Bisson, Emily plans to study accounting/business at FSU and will graduate from BCJGHS this June 2010.

Kraska along with goalkeeper Rachel McCollum (Grand Blanc), midfielder Cassie VanderSloot (Portage/Northern), defender-midfielder Courtney Ratz (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley), forward Laurel Rapson (Bay City/Central), and defender Audra Merino (Belvidere, Ill./Rockford Boylan Catholic) presently comprise Ferris State's 2010 recruiting group.
