Bulldog Women's Soccer Unbeaten Streak Ends In 3-1 Loss To Findlay

The Findlay Oilers scored two unanswered second-half goals less than two minutes apart en route to a 3-1 victory over the Ferris State University women's soccer team this Friday (Oct. 22) afternoon in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest at Findlay, Ohio and snapped the Bulldogs' five-match unbeaten streak in the process.

With the loss , Ferris State drops its season record to 7-6-3 overall and 7-4-2 in the GLIAC North Division as the Bulldogs entered the contest with a 3-0-2 mark in its previous five outings. The win for Findlay improves the Oilers to 6-4-3 overall and 6-4-1 in the GLIAC's South Division.

Findlay struck first with an unassisted goal at 7:49 into the match by midfielder Amanda Bachmayer.   Ferris State trailed 1-0 until10:35 left in the first half when freshman forward Emily Kraska (Bay City/John Glenn) scored unassisted for what represented the lone Bulldog goal.  Kraska's second goal of the season came from a kick 30 yards out and was lofted over the UF goalkeeper Alicia Tutino's head as both teams concluded the first intermission tied at 1-1.

The second half remained deadlocked until the 71:54 mark when Findlay's Emily Beddoes scored a breakaway goal from 10 yards out to put the Oilers ahead to stay.   Findlay would tack on an insurance goal less than two minutes later off a corner kick as Rosie Paris tallied her first of the year.

Freshman goalkeeper Rachel McCollum (Grand Blanc) made nine saves in the contest for Ferris State while Findlay's Alicia Tutino made stops on three Bulldogs shots. The loss drops McCollum's record on the season to 7-6-3 while Tuntino improves her season mark to 6-4-1.

Findlay concluded the contest outshooting Ferris State by a 19-8 margin, which included a 12-3 advantage in the second half.  The host Oilers also held the lead in corner kicks at 6-3.

Individually for Ferris State, Emily Kraska posted a team-leading two shots on goal while senior midfielder Megan Stec (Novi) and sophomore forward Cassie Aro (Gaines/Linden) tallied one shot on goal apiece.

Ferris State continues GLIAC play in Ohio this Sunday (Oct. 24) afternoon facing the Tiffin Dragons at 12 p.m. (EDT) in Tiffin, Ohio.
