Ferris State Women's Soccer To Play Four Matches This Spring
The Ferris State University women's soccer team will play four exhibition matches this spring in preparation for the upcoming 2011 season this fall as the schedule features three home contests at FSU's Top Taggart Field in Big Rapids, Mich. The announcement was made by Bulldog women's soccer head coach Matt Kellogg.
Ferris State will commence its spring slate on Saturday, March 26, with a 12 p.m. (EDT) outing versus Aquinas at Top Taggart Field. The Bulldogs conclude the day's action by taking on Davenport in a 4 p.m. (EDT) matchup. Aquinas and Davenport will square off in a 2 p.m. (EDT) contest.
The Bulldogs return to the field on Saturday, April 2, against Kalamazoo College at Top Taggart Field. A 2:30 p.m. (EDT) start time is scheduled for the match.
The 2011 spring schedule concludes for Ferris State Sunday, April 10, with a 12 p.m. (EDT) road contest versus NCAA Division I Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Mich.
"The spring contests are a great chance for us to see how far we have come in our offeseason training against outside competition," said Kellogg, who will begin his second year at Ferris State this fall. "It's also a time for underclassmen to step up and fill the roles vacated by six players graduating from the 2010 team. I'm pretty sure the players are tired of going at each other in (spring) training drills all the time and want to play against someone different."
Ferris State posted a 7-9-3 overall record for the 2010 season, which included a fourth-place 7-6-2 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (GLIAC) North Division.
