Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer team has been rewarded for the most successful regular-season in school history as the Bulldogs had four student-athletes honored as all-conference performers and claimed two major honors as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) unveiled its 2015 postseason awards on Thursday.

Ferris State head coach Andy McCaslin was tabbed as the GLIAC's Coach of the Year for the first time while senior Maddie Haustein (Novi) claimed the GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year honor. McCaslin is the first FSU coach in program history to claim the Coach of the Year distinction while Haustein is also the Bulldogs' first-ever major league award winner in the 17-year history of the program.

In addition, the Bulldogs had four representatives on the all-conference team with Haustein picking up All-GLIAC First Team accolades as the top goalkeeper in the league. Senior Ashley Bradstreet (Grandville) and freshman Erica Bartlett (Mason) were both All-GLIAC Second Team defenders on the back end while senior forward Casey Shauman (Portage) was an All-GLIAC Honorable Mention choice.

The all-conference awards were voted on by the league's member head coaches and announced by the conference office.

McCaslin led the Bulldogs to new heights in 2015 as the Bulldogs set a new school record with 13 regular-season victories and placed the highest in school history with a runner-up league regular season finish. FSU set a new school mark with nine league wins and posted a school all-time best 12-match unbeaten streak this year. Additionally, the Bulldogs broke a school record for most shutouts in a campaign (8) and most consecutive shutouts (4) while being ranked among the top six in the Midwest Region heading into the league tournament. FSU did not drop a match after the opening weekend of the season until mid-October under McCaslin's direction. The Bulldogs pulled out 10 victories determined by two goals or less this year while clinching only the program's second-ever conference tournament home quarterfinal match.

Haustein finished with the most outstanding performance ever in net for a Bulldog goalkeeper in her senior campaign. The veteran starter set a school record with 13 regular-season victories in 2015 and also set an all-time mark with seven shutouts. She played 1653 minutes during the regular season or all but eight minutes in net for the Bulldogs and compiled an impressive 0.82 goals against average. Haustein also made 144 saves with a .906 save percentage en route to a 13-4-1 overall record. FSU did not drop a match after the opening weekend of the season until mid-October with Haustein in net.

Both Bradstreet and Bartlett were key contributors on the back end for the Bulldogs as Ferris State has surrendered only a total of 16 goals in 19 outings to date. Bradstreet has started 17 contests to date and compiled an assist this year for the Bulldogs while Bartlett has made 18 starts and posted a goal along with nine shots in her rookie season.

Finally, Shauman continued her stellar play as a senior in helping lead the Bulldog offensive attack with 12 points overall on five goals and two assists to date this year. She has a team-leading 52 total shots, including 19 on goal, and also produced a game-winner this fall.

Ferris State bolted out to a big first-half lead and cruised past Northwood by a 4-1 score on Tuesday (Nov. 3) in only the program's second-ever postseason home contest at the FSU Soccer Field.

The second-seeded Bulldogs topped the seventh-seeded Timberwolves in the quarterfinals of the GLIAC Tournament to advance to the league semifinals this Friday (Nov. 6). FSU will face third-seeded Ashland on Friday in Allendale starting at 4 p.m. (ET). The league title match is set for Sunday also at GVSU.

Ferris State is presently ranked sixth in the most recent NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings and the top six teams will advance to the NCAA Tournament when the official announcement is made on Monday. Ashland is right behind FSU in seventh place in the region heading into Friday's showdown.
