Ferris State Soccer Faces Ashland In Huge GLIAC Semifinal Match On Friday

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer team will play one of its biggest matches in school history on Friday (Nov. 6) as the Bulldogs square off against Ashland in the semifinals of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament in Allendale.

The second-seeded Bulldogs and the third-seeded Eagles will face each other in the first semifinal starting at 4 p.m. (ET). The match will not only determine who advances to the league tournament final, but will also have potential NCAA playoff implications on the line.

Two-time defending national champion Grand Valley State will host the league semifinals and finals this weekend at the Laker Soccer Field. The host Lakers are the top seed and will battle fourth-seeded Ohio Dominican in the second semifinal starting at 7 p.m. (ET).

The two semifinal winners will meet in Sunday's league championship match starting at 1 p.m. (ET).

Tickets for the GLIAC Tournament are $7 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and children along with $3 for college students from the participating schools with a valid ID card. No passes will be accepted per GLIAC Tourney regulations.

Ferris State bolted out to a big first-half lead and cruised past Northwood by a 4-1 score on Tuesday (Nov. 3) during the GLIAC quarterfinals in only the program's second-ever postseason home contest at the FSU Soccer Field. Meanwhile, Ashland tied Michigan Tech in double overtime before advancing on penalty kicks in the shootout.

Ferris State is presently ranked sixth in the most recent NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings and the top six teams will advance to the NCAA Tournament when the official announcement is made on Monday. Ashland is right behind FSU in seventh place in the region heading into Friday's showdown. The NCAA Championship Selection Show will take place Monday, Nov. 9, at 6:30 p.m.
