Ferris State Women's Soccer Announces Large 2017 Recruiting Class

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University women's soccer head coach Andy McCaslin announced his 2017 recruiting class on Wednesday (Feb. 1) in conjunction with National Signing Day.

The class includes 15 prep in-state recruits who will join the FSU program for the fall 2017 season, making it perhaps the school's largest class ever.

All 25 of this year's signees hail from Michigan and include one goalkeeper, five defenders, four midfielders and five forwards in a balanced mix.

"We're thrilled with this year's recruiting class and it really came together nicely," said McCaslin. "This is an outstanding collection of talent and we're excited they've joined our program. We're looking for this group to make a big impact in the years to come."

The Bulldogs concluded the 2016 campaign with a 6-8-4 overall record and went 4-3-4 in conference regular-season action to finish tied for fifth in the league. In FSU's last 12 outings this past year, the Bulldogs gave up only a single goal or less nine times and 10 of the decisions in that stretch either resulted in a victory or were determined by only one goal.

Ferris State also made its seventh consecutive GLIAC Tournament appearance and ninth overall in program history during the fall 2016 season. The Bulldogs had only a pair of seniors and three standouts who are all eligible to return next year earned All-GLIAC accolades.
