FSU's Lindsay Cole Claims GLIAC Soccer Defensive Player Of Week Nod

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University sophomore outside back Lindsay Cole (Grand Rapids/Catholic Central) has claimed this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Award.

Cole played a key role over the weekend as FSU stretched its league winning streak to three consecutive games with back-to-back home wins in Big Rapids. She had the game-winning assist on Sunday in a 2-0 shutout win over Parkside, which represented FSU's third-straight conference shutout victory.

For the weekend, including Friday's 1-0 triumph over Purdue Northwest, she finished with four shots, including three on goal as the Bulldogs won the two games utilizing two different goalkeepers. Her play helped the Bulldogs outshoot the opposition 61-10 for the two contests as the defense limited the opponents' scoring opportunities with strong play on the back end.

Ferris State currently sits in the top three in the GLIAC standings with a 4-3-2 overall record and a 3-1-2 league mark.

The Bulldogs will host Saginaw Valley State on Friday (Sept. 30) at 1 p.m. (ET) in GLIAC play before taking on Northwood in a rescheduled non-league home tilt on Monday (Oct. 3) starting at 4 p.m. (ET) at the Bulldog Soccer Field.
