Bulldog Soccer Records Sixth Victory In Last Seven Contests By Topping Parkside

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer squad got off to a quick start and earned its sixth win in its last seven outings, beating Parkside 1-0 on Sunday (Oct. 9) afternoon in Kenosha, Wis.

The Bulldogs scored only 3:47 into the outing as senior Nikki May registered her second goal of the year in unassisted fashion and the score stood in the FSU victory.

Ferris State held a decisive 19-6 edge in total shots for the afternoon, including a 7-2 margin in shot on goal. The Bulldogs generated 11 total chances in the opening half and added eight more in the second frame.

In goal, FSU's Darya Mosallaei notched the shutout in 90 minutes of action with a pair of saves. It represented Ferris State's sixth shutout win of the year and it was Mosallaei's 16th of her career, which tied former Bulldog Grace Kraft for the second-most all-time in program history.

The win was the Bulldogs' second this year over Parkside, which got six saves in the losing effort from goalkeeper Mia Guyton.

FSU totaled three corner kick opportunities to two for the Rangers and finished with 18 total fouls compared to 15 for the hosts.

Overall, Ferris State is now 6-0-1 in its last seven outings and has not allowed more than a goal in any single contest during the stretch. FSU is 7-1-3 in its past 11 contests, including three consecutive victories to date.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 7-3-3 overall this year and 5-1-3 in conference action. FSU currently sits tied for second place overall in the league standings with Northern Michigan after nine league outings.

The Bulldogs will visit a pair of West Michigan rivals this coming week as FSU travels to Davenport on Friday (Oct. 14) followed by a league showdown with rival Grand Valley State on Sunday (Oct. 16).
