Ferris State Soccer Falls In GLIAC Tournament Semifinals

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to rival Grand Valley State in the semifinal round of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament on Friday (Nov. 4) in Allendale.

The Bulldogs outshot the Lakers 17-12 on the day, but GVSU got off to a quick start and produced a pair of first-half goals in the triumph.

The Lakers scored the opening goal of the contest only 1:52 into play on Kennedy Bearden's 13th tally of the season with an assist to Kacy Lauer.

GVSU pushed the margin to 2-0 in the 27th minute when Taylor Reid punched in her 13th goal of the season as well off an assist from Lauer.

The final goal for the Lakers came in the second half in the 78th minute as Reid notched her second goal of the contest off the third assist in the game for Lauer.

Overall, the Lakers had 10 shots on goal to eight for FSU overall.

Darya Mosallaei went the distance in net for the Bulldogs and made seven saves in 90 minutes of work while Kendall Robertson earned the win for GVSU with eight saves on the day.

Both teams were called for 12 fouls in the game and the Lakers held a 6-2 edge in corner kick chances.

The Bulldogs dropped to 10-5-5 overall with the setback.

Ferris State was ranked eighth in the most recent NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings with the official NCAA Tournament selections slated to be announced on Monday. The top seven teams from each region earn postseason bids.
