Cedarville, Ohio - For the second time in three days, the Ferris State University women's soccer team upset a higher seed, this time ending the season of Midwest Region second seed and tournament host Cedarville to advance to the Midwest Regional Championship game on Saturday (Nov. 12) in Ohio.

Ferris State has advanced to the Midwest Regional Championship for just the second time in program history, including the first under Head Coach Greg Henson, and first time since 2018.

The Bulldogs jumped in front at 22:42 when senior Isabella Zamborini netted her team-leading 12th goal of the year to put Ferris State in front 1-0 in the opening half. Ferris State freshman Ella Wolf picked up her third assist of the year on Zamborini's goal for the early lead.

Ferris State held the lead until a flurry of chaos late in the second half, starting when senior Jessie Bandyk buried a header off the woodwork at 80:03 for her first goal of the year. Freshman Grace Pratt earned the assist, her second of the year to make it a 2-0 contest.

The two-goal lead lasted 41 seconds as Cedarville's Mary Kate Wyer scored at 80:44 to cut Ferris State's lead down to 2-1.

Ferris State sophomore goalkeeper Darya Mosallaei made her most important save of the season moments later, denying the Yellowjackets a bid to tie the game.

The Bulldogs iced the contest when Zamborini battled past a Cedarville defender and finessed past Yellowjackets' goalkeeper Brooke Ackley for her second goal of the year and 13th of the season, giving FSU a 3-1 edge.

On the day, Ferris State was outshot narrowly, 15-12, with an even 6-6 number in shots on goal. Mosallaei made five saves in the Bulldog victory while Ackley took the loss for Cedarville on three stops. The Yellowjackets had a narrow 6-5 advantage in corner tries on the day.

Ferris State will play the winner of the Grand Valley State versus Maryville contest in the Midwest Regional Championship. The time of game, venue and opponent will be announced following the results of the other half of the bracket, which will be played on Sunday (Nov. 13) at 1 p.m. (ET) in Allendale.
