Women's Tennis Caps Off Perfect Weekend With Non-League Win Over Aquinas

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad capped off an unbeaten weekend with a 6-3 non-conference victory over visiting Aquinas on Sunday (Feb. 28) afternoon at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.

The Bulldogs, who topped Southern Indiana 8-1 in regional play on Saturday, wrapped up the two-match weekend by topping the West Michigan foe in Sunday's encounter.

Ferris State dropped the top doubles flight by an 8-4 score, but came back to win second and third doubles by 8-0 and 8-2 scores, respectively, en route to building a 2-1 lead heading into singles action.

During singles play, the Bulldogs suffered setbacks at the first two flights in the lineup. However, FSU swept the bottom four positions in notching the victory.

A total of seven different players factored into the team score for the Bulldogs, who improved to 13-5 overall this season. Aquinas fell to 3-3 on the year with the loss.

The win also lifted FSU's mark to 3-1 in spring competition. All four encounters have taken place at the Racquet & Fitness Center.

Ferris State now hits the road for four matches in Florida over the school's annual spring break week. The Bulldogs open the stretch against Tarleton State in non-league play on March 6 at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in the Sunshine State.

FSU will also face Charleston (W.Va.) along with Saint Leo (Fla.) and Hillsborough CC during the trek to Florida.
