Women's Tennis Suffers First Setback Of Conference Season In Home Encounter

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad suffered its first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) setback of the year on Wednesday (Oct. 4) as the Bulldogs dropped a 7-2 decision to rival Grand Valley State at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

The Lakers took a 2-1 lead following the doubles round and managed to win five of the six singles flights to beat the Bulldogs.

With the setback, FSU fell to 2-1 overall and in league action this campaign.

The Bulldogs got a doubles victory from the number one tandem of Nika Hein and Silvia Verebes by an 8-4 score. In addition, Verebes won her singles match at the second flight in three-set fashion.

Ferris State continues its three-match homestand this weekend as the Bulldogs host Michigan Tech on Saturday (Oct. 7) and Lake Superior State on Sunday (Oct. 8) at the Racquet and Fitness Center. Both matches get underway at 10 a.m. (ET).
