Bulldog Women's Tennis Lands Two-Time State Champion

Big Rapids, Mich. - The reigning Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Champion Ferris State University women's tennis program has landed prep standout Moorea McNalley (Shelby Township), who signed with FSU during National Signing Day on Wednesday.

McNalley has been playing tennis for nearly 15 years, including at a competitive level for more than a decade with over 300 USTA and ITA matches under her belt. The two-time state champion has served as a team captain for both her prep tennis and golf squads on the high school level.

"We're thrilled to land a player of Moorea's caliber and believe she'll be an excellent addition to our program and the Bulldog lineup," said FSU head coach Mark Doren. "She brings experience and talent that will help our program continue to compete at a high level and we're looking forward to the future with her as part of our team."

McNalley won the state championship at #1 singles last season for Clarkston Everest Collegiate, posting an unbeaten 32-0 record while also claiming the Catholic League and Regional Championships. Additionally, she was a state finalist in girls golf and earned MLive.com Student-Athlete of the Week recognition.

The talented standout was also the #1 singles state champion in 2019 as a freshman before her 2020 prep campaign was cancelled due to COVID-19. The All-Academic award honoree has won numerous championships in tournament action, including the Governor's Cup Women's Open Doubles Championship in 2021 and being recognized as the USTA Grand Rapids Spring Thaw Champion.

In 2017, McNalley was a member of the Southeast Michigan team that won the USTA Midwest Team Cup and he helped the 2018 Southeast Michigan squad to a third-place performance.

The daughter of Julie and Kevin McNalley, Moorea has also volunteered her time teaching young children the game of tennis during the summer months and is active in several outdoor activities such as wake-surfing, wake-boarding, golfing and downhill skiing.

Last spring, the Bulldogs captured both the GLIAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships, claiming their first league titles in women's tennis since 2002. The Bulldogs also made their 21st all-time NCAA Tournament appearance in 2021.
