Ferris State Women's Tennis Closes Out Busy Weekend With Home Win Over SVSU

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team finished out a busy weekend of action with a 4-3 triumph over Saginaw Valley State on Sunday (March 30) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

The Bulldogs won their second match in a row to improve to 8-6 overall and 3-1 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

Ferris State claimed the doubles point with the duo of Kennedy Dumas and Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer posting a 7-5 win at one doubles and the tandem of Yara Madi and Aimee Reynoso claiming a 6-3 win at the second spot in the lineup.

Madi was also a winner in singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at two singles while Dumas claimed a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the third position.

The Bulldogs also got a straight-set win from Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer at the fifth flight to clinch the victory.

"I really want to give major props to our women's team as they don't typically play three conference matches in a single weekend," said FSU head coach Mark Doren. "Despite playing three days in a row, they kept a great attitude and beat two really good teams to close out the weekend."

Ferris State will next be in action on Friday, April 4, as the Bulldogs visit Michigan Tech for a 2 p.m. (ET) league encounter in Houghton.
