Ferris State Women's Tennis Wraps Up Season-Opening Hillsdale Invite
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad started its 2025-26 season over the weekend at the Hillsdale Invitational in Hillsdale, Mich.
The non-team scoring competition was individual flight-based with both singles and doubles competition.
The Bulldogs' Madeline Paisley won the Flight B singles championship.
FSU's Katherine Earnest and Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer both won semifinal matches in advancing to the Flight C singles final.
In Flight A action, FSU's Yara Madi reached the semifinals. Ayva Johnstone also reached the final in the Flight D division.
In doubles play, Ainzley Zulueta and Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer advanced to the semifinals of the Flight A division. Earnest and Madi battled back to win two doubles contests in the consolation bracket.
Meanwhile, Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer and Paisley took the Flight B doubles crown. Johnstone and Vivian Burns reached the semifinals.
The Bulldogs will take part in the Davenport Invitational this coming weekend.
