Two FSU Women's Tennis Standouts Advance To Round Of 16 At ITA Regional Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad got off to a strong start in opening day action on Saturday at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships hosted by Davenport University near Grand Rapids.

The Bulldogs had two competitors advance to the round of 16 in the Flight A singles draw as both freshman Madeline Peisley and sophomore Yara Madi notched two wins each. It marked the first time in over five years in which the Bulldogs advanced two players to the round of 16.

Both Peisley and Madi will return to action on Sunday (Oct. 5) in day two competition.

"It was a fun day on the courts for our Bulldog Tennis squad," said FSU head coach Mark Doren. "We had lots of positives and a few things to work on, but with five of the nine players we had competing today being underclassmen, I'm very happy with how competitive we were."

The winners of both the singles and doubles draws at the regional event will advance to the ITA Small College Cup Championships slated for later this month.
