Bulldog Volleyball Storms Past Lake Erie For GLIAC Road Sweep

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball team got back on track with a convincing 3-0 sweep over Lake Erie in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action on Saturday (Oct. 12) in Painesville, Ohio.

The nationally 20th-ranked Bulldogs rolled to a 25-11, 25-15, 25-16 triumph over the Storm in rebounding from a close 3-2 loss to GLIAC South Division leader Ashland on Friday night.

With the win, Ferris State improved to 13-4 overall and 8-1 in the GLIAC while Lake Erie fell to 1-13 overall and 1-8 in league play.

Sophomore outside hitter Alexis Huntey paced FSU with 10 kills in the match while FSU also received 27 assists from freshman setter Stephanie Sikorski.  Senior libero Brandie Merren totaled 14 digs in helping the Bulldog cause.

FSU hit .422 for the day with 41 kills, 40 digs and four service aces to go with four service errors.

The Bulldogs played 12 different players in the match in rolling to the victory.

Lake Erie was led by Samantha Knepley and Jamie Hoppe, who totaled five kills each.  Molly Richardson totaled nine digs.

The Storm was limited to a .126 attack percentage with 28 kills.  They had 33 digs, one ace and seven service errors in the setback.

Ferris State, which has won nine of its last 10 contests to date this year, returns home to host Findlay on Friday (Oct. 18) starting at 5 p.m. (ET) inside the Ewigleben Sports Arena.  FSU then hosts Wayne State on Saturday (Oct. 19) beginning at 3 p.m. (ET) in Big Rapids.
