
#15 Ferris State Cruises To Road Sweep At Saginaw Valley State For Fifth-Straight Win
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad cruised to a 3-0 sweep over Saginaw Valley State on Saturday (Oct. 10) evening at Hamilton Gymnasium in University Center.
The Bulldogs won the opening set 25-15 before taking set two 25-19 and set three by a 25-14 count.
Sophomore Gabby Piazza led the Bulldogs with 13 kills in the contest while sophomore Emily May added nine kills. Logyn Geren finished with six kills in a balanced FSU effort.
The Bulldogs got 27 assists from setter Hayley Wegener, who also added a team-high tying nine digs. Hope Davies also had nine digs and Emma Bleecher added seven digs. Wegener posted four service aces for Ferris State and Aaliyah Cage accounted for three blocks in the win.
Ferris State hit a strong .377 for the match with 35 kills and only six attack errors on 77 tries. FSU finished with 38 digs and posted eight service aces in addition to six block assists and three total blocks.
Saginaw Valley State was limited to a .115 attack figure with 31 kills and 20 attack errors on 96 attempts. The Cardinals recorded 32 digs, two service aces and two block assists. SVSU also had 11 service errors.
The Bulldogs improved to 12-4 overall and 6-1 in conference play with the win. The triumph was FSU's fifth in a row.
Ferris State will close out the weekend on the road at Lake Superior State on Saturday (Oct. 11) with match time set for 2 p.m. (ET) in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
