FSU Women's Cross Country 1st & Men 7th In 50-Team Field At Augustana Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's cross country team came away with a first-place team finish while the men's squad posted a top-seven finish at the 2015 Brissman/Lundeen Cross Country Invitational hosted by Augustana (Ill.) on Friday (Sept. 25) at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill.

The Bulldog women's team captured the championship in a 50-team field with 125 total points.

FSU was paced by senior Emily Haynes, who placed ninth overall in a time of 22:28.4 on the 6K women's course. She was followed by junior Samantha Humphrey in 22nd place overall (23;13.5).
Behind the top two Bulldog finishers was junior Alyssa Cummings in 29th place (23:22.1).

Sophomore Jessica Delaney placed 39th (23:33.9) with junior Racheal McDonald 41st (23:35.7) and freshman Jordan Lee 43rd (23:36.6). Senior Kristie LeSage came in 50th (23:42.0) in a field that included nearly 600 total runners.

The Bulldogs placed well ahead of runner-up Wartburg (153 points) in the women's team standings with Maryville third (171) and St. Norbert fourth (193). The event included schools from several levels of competition.

On the men's side, the Bulldogs totaled 191 points to finish seventh among 50 schools. The University of Illinois won the event with 65 points followed by Wartburg (114), Augustana (126), Wisconsin-Platteville (131) and Loras College (135) in the top five overall.

Ferris State's Logan Hammer recorded a top 10 finish for the Bulldogs as the junior placed seventh in the 8K men's race in a time of 24:57.6. 

Sophomore Trevor Holowaty came in 31st (25:34.9) with sophomore Clayton Springer 50th (25:51.9) and junior Kyle Richardson 55th (25:43.9) in the field.

FSU's Hunter Nivison placed 71st (26:10.3) followed by sophmore Connor Pilmore in 91st place (26:22.6) for the Bulldogs. Freshman Roan Fahey took 97th place (26:25.9) among the other Bulldogs who competed in the race, which included more than 600 men's participants.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Oct. 10 with action at a pair of meets including the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Ill., along with the Northwood Invitational in Midland.
