GRCC's Jamar Wimberly Joins Bulldog Football
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University football program continues to add to its 2012 recruiting class as today (April 17) the Bulldogs announced the addition of junior college transfer Jamar Wimberly (Marshall/GRCC).
Wimberly spent the last two seasons as a defensive back at Grand Rapids Community College where he played under first-year head coach Tony Annese.
Wimberly officially becomes the fourth of Annese's former junior college players at Grand Rapids Community College to committ with Ferris State and also joins 33 high school products as current members of the 2012 recruiting class.
While at GRCC, Wimberly was one of the region's top defensive backs. He placed third among the Raiders' defensive leaders in 2011 with 37.5 total tackles, which included 33 solo stops. Additionally, he compiled a squad-high three interceptions and had 14 passes defended in 10 contests.
His addition brings the current size of this year's signing class to 37 overall, which includes 32 in-state recruits from Michigan along with three from Florida and two from Illinois.
