Big Rapids, Mich. - After a historic championship season last fall, attendance is expected to be high and spots are filling up fast for the 32nd annual Ferris State University football Golf Outing, which takes place on Saturday, June 6, at Clear Lake Golf Club near Big Rapids.

A single month remains and time is running out fast for individuals interested in taking part in the four-person shotgun scramble, which is sponsored by the FSU Gridiron Club in conjunction with the Bulldog Athletic Association (BAA). It serves as one of the Ferris State football program's primary fundraising events. The shotgun start will be held on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Bulldog Football golf outing returns to Clear Lake for the second-straight year after a strong turnout last summer which helped create momentum for last fall's historic campaign.

The golf outing will get underway with registration and lunch on June 6 starting at 11:30 a.m. (ET).  The rules meeting will begin shortly after with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. (ET).  Following golf will be a cocktail hour with the evening dinner served in the clubhouse at Clear Lake at approximately 6:30 p.m. (ET). Door prizes, auction, raffle and awards will follow the evening meal with a social at Buffalo Wild Wings in Big Rapids later in the evening. A great package of team and individual prizes will be awarded for winners in several divisions.

The cost for this year's event is $100 per player for golf, which also includes greens fees and a power cart, along with lunch, refreshments and a steak dinner.  In addition, several sponsorship packages are available for green and tees along with the driving range.  The cost for those wishing to attend the dinner only is $15.

Contributions and proceeds from the event directly contribute to the continued success of the Ferris State football program. Individuals are encouraged to submit their registration forms along with complete payment as soon as  possible or by May 22 to guarantee participation in the football golf outing. Checks may be made payable to Ferris State University with "Football Outing" in the memo.

For questions about this year's golf outing, please contact Football Golf Outing Chair Bill Scheible at 231-796-7135 (work) or 231-796-3305 (home).

The Bulldogs will begin their 107th season of varsity competition this coming fall with their sights set on repeating as GLIAC Champions and making a return trip to the NCAA Division II Playoffs following a historic season in 2014 that saw the Bulldogs finish with their first conference title in 15 years and first trip to the postseason in 18 seasons.

In 2014, FSU head coach Tony Annese led the Bulldogs to an 11-1 overall record, which was the school's best in 19 seasons. A total of 10 FSU standouts earned some form of All-America honors, the Bulldogs had 16 all-conference honorees and standout quarterback Jason Vander Laan, a junior, was tabbed as the Harlon Hill Trophy Award winner given to the NCAA Division II Player of the Year, the best of more than 10,000 players at the level in the nation.

Annese, who was named the GLIAC and American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Regional Coach of the Year after leading the Bulldogs to the school's first-ever 11-0 regular season in the program's 106-year history last fall, recently inked yet another stellar recruiting class on National Signing Day in February with FSU adding upwards of 30 incoming prep recruits, including a GLIAC-best 26 from the state of Michigan.

More than 50 letterwinners are slated to return this coming fall for the Bulldogs with upwards of 20 players with significant starting experience eligible to be back for the 2015 campaign. Fall camp will begin in early August.
