Big Rapids, Mich. - Following a trip to the NCAA Division II National Semifinals last fall and an incredible five-year run on the field, attendance is expected to be high and spots are filling up fast for the 34th annual Ferris State University football Golf Outing, which takes place on Saturday, June 3, at Clear Lake Golf Club near Big Rapids.

Just over a month remains and time is running out fast for individuals interested in taking part in the four-person shotgun scramble, which is sponsored by the FSU Gridiron Club in conjunction with the Bulldog Athletic Association (BAA). It serves as one of the Ferris State football program's primary fundraising events. The shotgun start will be held on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Bulldog Football golf outing returns to Clear Lake for the fourth-straight year after a strong turnout each of the past three years, which has helped create momentum for FSU's three-straight NCAA Playoff appearances.

"Beyond the wins and many accomplishments, the best part of our program is the culture," said FSU head coach Tony Annese. "Ferris State Football is all about family and togetherness. Our golf outing is a great way to connect as well as serving as a springboard into our 2017 season. We would love to see everyone on the links to celebrate Bulldog Football."

The golf outing will get underway with registration and lunch on June 3 starting at 11 a.m. (ET).  The rules meeting will begin shortly after with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. (ET).  Following golf will be a cocktail hour with the evening dinner served in the clubhouse at Clear Lake at approximately 6:30 p.m. (ET). Door prizes, auction, raffle and awards will follow the evening meal with a social at Buffalo Wild Wings in Big Rapids later in the evening. A great package of team and individual prizes will be awarded for winners in several divisions.

The cost for this year's event is $100 per player for golf, which also includes greens fees and a power cart, along with lunch, refreshments and a steak dinner.  In addition, several sponsorship packages are available for green and tees along with the driving range.  The cost for those wishing to attend the dinner only is $15.

Contributions and proceeds from the event directly contribute to the continued success of the Ferris State football program. Individuals are encouraged to submit their registration forms along with complete payment as soon as  possible or by May 24 to guarantee participation in the football golf outing. Checks may be made payable to Ferris State University with "Football Outing" in the memo.

For questions about this year's golf outing, please contact Football Golf Outing Chair Bill Scheible at 231-796-7135 (work) or 231-796-3305 (home).

The Bulldogs will begin their 109th season of varsity competition this coming fall with their sights set on making a fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

Ferris State is coming off another historic campaign as the Bulldogs posted a 12-3 overall record in 2016 while advancing to the NCAA Division II National Semifinals for only the second time in school history. In 2016, the Bulldogs also posted a school-record tying 12 victories. Ferris State received the program's third-straight NCAA Football Playoff berth and captured the Super Region Four Championship by beating archrival Grand Valley State during a memorable postseason run. The 15-week campaign, which included three postseason playoff wins, was the school's longest in 108 years of Bulldog Football.

Over the last three seasons at Ferris State, the Bulldogs have compiled a 34-5 overall record and claimed two conference championships, posted two unbeaten regular-seasons, captured a regional title and reached the national semifinals. Ferris State has also accumulated two Harlon Hill National Player of the Year trophies, twice had a student-athlete tabbed as the nation's National Scholar-Athlete of the Year and won four postseason games.

In the five seasons under Annese, the Bulldogs have become a national power on the Division II level. FSU has posted a 49-12 overall mark in the last five years and the Bulldogs have also posted the best winning percentage of all 21 collegiate programs in the state of Michigan along with the GLIAC since his arrival.

Overall, Annese has won 83% of his games as a head coach on the collegiate and prep levels and owns 274 wins to date, which is the most of any current GLIAC member head coach at all levels.

Ferris State will return nearly 60 letterwinners for the 2017 campaign, including nearly 18 starters.
