PRO DAWGS UPDATE: Ferris State Alums Set For Week 10 As NFL Playoff Chase Heats Up

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University football will be represented heavily again in week 10 of the National Football League as the race to the postseason playoffs heats up across the country.

Ferris State currently has five alums on NFL active or practice rosters this fall, which is the most of any NCAA Division II school in the country. Overall, eight different Bulldog products have played in a NFL regular-season game over the past four seasons, topping many NCAA Division I institutions.

This week, third-year Bulldog pro Tavierre Thomas and the Cleveland Browns host the Houston Texans on Sunday (Nov. 15) at 1 p.m. (ET). Former Bulldog receiver Malik Taylor will also take the field at the same time as the Green Bay Packers entertain the Jacksonville Jaguars at Lambeau Field.

Two former Bulldog defensive linemen will play the late afternoon games on Sunday as Justin Zimmer and the Buffalo Bills travel to Arizona for a 4:05 p.m. (ET) tilt with Zach Sieler and the Miami Dolphins hosting the Los Angeles Chargers at the same time. A third Bulldog defensive lineman in the NFL, rookie Austin Edwards of the Atlanta Falcons, will be idle this weekend.

Together, the five Bulldog alums have helped their respective clubs post an overall 26-16 record to date this year and four of the five teams have .500 records or better, including Green Bay (6-2), Miami (5-3), Cleveland (5-3) and Buffalo (7-2).

In last week's action, Taylor played 26 offensive snaps and 15 more on special teams as Green Bay beat San Francisco 34-17 on the road. Zimmer finished with two tackles and a quarterback hit for Buffalo while playing 22 defensive snaps in a 44-34 home win over Seattle. Sieler finished with four tackles and a QB hit in Miami's 34-31 road win at Arizona, playing 39 defensive snaps and nine more on special teams. Finally, Edwards did not see action in Atlanta's 34-27 home win over Denver and Thomas was off as Cleveland had a bye week.
