Important Details & Fan Information Announced For Upcoming Anchor-Bone Classic At GVSU

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University football team will visit archrival Grand Valley State for the Anchor-Bone Classic next Saturday, Oct. 16, and Bulldog fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance for the game as a large crowd is again expected with the two West Michigan rivals colliding at GVSU's Lubbers Stadium.

The annual showdown between the two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) rivals is set for a 7 p.m. (ET) kickoff in Allendale and will be a potential matchup of top 10-ranked teams in the country.

FSU fans wanting to purchase tickets to the game can purchase them online at www.GVSUTickets.com or by calling the GVSU Athletic Ticket Office at (616) 331-3200 to purchase tickets in the designated FSU seating sections at Lubbers Stadium. All fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance as GVSU expects to sellout all seats.

The Bulldogs' designated seating sections at Lubbers Stadium are in sections 119 and 219 of the visitors side. Fans can also purchase tickets online in adjacent sections. Tickets are $18 or $20 depending on seat location.

GLIAC passes will be accepted and each pass can be redeemed only once for two game tickets. Passes can be redeemed in person beginning on Monday (Oct. 11) at the GVSU box office with hours slated for Monday thru Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (ET), or redeemed in person on gameday starting at 5 p.m.

Additionally, fans are strongly encouraged to prepay online for parking as GVSU is a cashless campus and payments are only accepted via credit card. Parking for all vehicles is priced at $10 in advance or $15 on gameday. Any recreational vehicles (RV's) will be $25 in advance or $30 on gameday. Parking can be purchased over the phone or by visiting www.GVSULakers.com/FBParking.

The visitor's tailgate lot on the GVSU campus is designated as Lot F. Bulldog fans are encouraged to enter from West Campus Drive rather than the main entrance to campus for speedier access to Lot F. All lots will open three hours prior to kickoff on a first-come, first-serve basis. GVSU also has a clear bag policy and more information can be found at GVSUTickets.com (https://gvsulakers.com/sports/2021/8/6/clear-bag-policy.aspx). The Anchor Bone Trophy is awarded annually to the winner of the Ferris State-Grand Valley State football game. Ferris State has captured seven of the last eight regular-season matchups between the two West Michigan rivals, including an exciting 21-16 triumph in the most recent matchup played in 2019 at FSU's Top Taggart Field that was broadcast live across the state on Fox Sports Detroit as the kickoff to the network's "Football Week In Michigan" event.

Along with the regular-season matchup, the two teams have both also squared off in the NCAA Division II Playoffs twice in the last six years with GVSU winning in 2015 in Big Rapids before FSU returned the favor with a 47-32 triumph over the Lakers in 2016 in Allendale in the Super Region Four Championship game.

Overall, the Bulldogs are currently 8-2 against the Lakers under current FSU head coach Tony Annese since 2012. The two teams have both been ranked among the top 15 teams in the nation at kickoff time at total of 11 times in series' history, including each of the past seven matchups.

Presently, Ferris State, which is on a bye week, is ranked second in the D2Football.com national poll along with third in the AFCA D2 Coaches' rankings at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the GLIAC. The Lakers, who host Northwood this week prior to facing FSU, are sixth in the D2Football.com rankings and seventh in the AFCA listing at 4-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Those fans not able to be at the game can listen live on the Bulldog Sports Network and flagship station Sunny 97.3 FM as Rob Bentley and Sandy Gholston call the play-by-play action. An online audio stream will be avaiable at FerrisStateBulldogs.com.
