D2 National Champion Ferris State To Kickoff 2022 Season At GLIAC Media Day On Monday

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will kick off the 2022 football season with an in-person media day in Detroit on Monday (July 25) at the Wayne State Fieldhouse with reigning NCAA Division II National Champion Ferris State University set to take part.

The media day activities will include the release of the preseason coaches' poll, a live webstream, and various social media events.

Along with each GLIAC football coach, schools will bring two player representatives from each team. Players and coaches will be interviewed by football analyst, writer and author Emory Hunt, that will be streamed live across the GLIAC's Youtube page. The Coaches and athletes will also be made available to media attending the event.

Ferris State will be represented by Assistant Head Coach Brian Rock, who will be filling in for head coach Tony Annese, along with senior offensive guard Adam Sieler (Pickney) and senior defensive back Cyntell Williams (Battle Creek).

The live webcast will begin at 10 a.m. (ET) with opening comments from GLIAC Commissioner Kris Dunbar followed by representatives from each team. Ferris State slated to be featured at approximately 10:25 a.m. (ET).

The day will conclude with the GLIAC coaches and players hosting a youth clinic and autograph session in conjunction with Camp Courageous, a local organization dedicated to the goal of encouraging the positive social development of urban children as one component of a broad, united effort working towards the rebirth of the city's communities and the City of Detroit as a whole. Attendees will rotate to different skills stations and participate in a variety of drills.

The Bulldogs, who are expected to return a strong nucleus from last season, enter the 2022 campaign as the defending NCAA Division II National Champion and have been picked as the nation's preseason #1 team again by Lindy's Sports. FSU will begin the season at home on Thursday, Sept. 1, against Central Washington at Top Taggart Field with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. (ET) under the lights in Big Rapids.

Last season, along with capturing the D2 National Championship with a perfect 14-0 record, the Bulldogs also claimed a third-straight GLIAC Championship and stretched their regular-season winning streak to 38 consecutive games and counting. Ferris State has won 31 consecutive GLIAC matchups.

FSU ranks as the country's winningest program over the past seven full seasons in D2 Football and has made seven consecutive postseason playoff appearances. The Bulldogs have won each of the last three GLIAC Championships in unbeaten fashion and reached the national quarterfinals five consecutive years, which is the longest streak in the country. Over the past three seasons of on-field action, the Bulldogs have compiled a 41-2 mark.
