Senior Eric Lilleboe (Okemos/Lansing Catholic Central) achieved medalist honors at the 2009 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Golf Championships as the nationally-ranked Ferris State Bulldogs wrapped up the three-day (Oct. 3-5) tourney with a fourth-place tying 908 team stroke total.

Ferris State recorded rounds of 302, 301, and 305 to finish with a 56-over-par 908 score on the par 71, 6,828-yard Greywalls Course at the Marquette (Mich.) Golf Club to gain a share of fourth-place honors with Saginaw Valley State (908, +56).  Grand Valley State (881, +29) cruised to the conference title by 20 strokes over second-place Findlay (901, +49) in the 10-team tournament.

Lilleboe, who was coming off a medalist performance at the Ferris State Matt Pinter Invitational last weekend (Sept. 26-27), carded a four-under par 209 score (70-70-69=209, -4) to finish seven strokes in front of individual runner-ups Michael Basinski and Matt Malloure both of Grand Valley State along with Wayne State's Eric Johnson.  The trio registered three-stroke over par 216 scores.  For Lilleboe, the first-place showing marked his third such performance this fall with his first occuring at the season-opening Saginaw Valley State Al Watrous Intercollegiate Invitational (Sept. 12-13).

Joining Lilleboe among the top 20 finishers was junior Garrett Simons (Grand Ledge), who produced a 226 score (77-72-77=226, +13) to earn 11th place.

Junior Joe Brown (St. Ignace/LaSalle) and senior Craig Burrows (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Olmstead Falls) both gained a share of 31st-place honors by firing 238-stroke totals.  Brown (80-78-80=238, +25) and Burrows (76-83-79=238, +25) each concluded the tournament 25 strokes over par.   Senior Kurt Valley (Bay City/Western) placed in a three-way tie for 35th place as a result of producing a 240 score (79-81-80=240, +27).

Ferris State will wrap up the fall portion of its 2009-10 schedule this weekend (Oct. 10-11) as the Bulldogs participate in the Wayne State Motor City Invitational at the Grosse Ile (Mich.) Golf Club course.
