Ferris State Men's Golf Finishes Second At Midwest Region Tournament II-The Jewell

The Ferris State University men's golf team had four individuals place among the top 20 individuals as the Bulldogs turned in a second-place team performance with a three-over par 579 score at the NCAA-II Midwest Region Tournament-The Jewell (April 2-3) in Georgetown, Ky.

Ferris State netted rounds of 279 and 300 on the par 72, 7,007 Cherry Blossom Golf Course as the Bulldogs ended up 17 strokes behind tourney champion Indianapolis, which produced a 14-under par 562-stroke total among 24 participating teams.

Senior Eric Lilleboe (Okemos/Lansing Catholic Central) was FSU's top finisher with a third-place 140 score (67-73=140, -4).  Lilleboe concluded the tournament four strokes in back of medalist Seth Fair of Indianapolis, who carded a 136 score (67-69=136, -8), and one stroke behind Wayne State's Joe Juszczyk's 139 score (68-71=139, -5).  Craig Burrows (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Olmstead Falls) and Kurt Valley (Bay City/Western), a pair of seniors, were among seven individuals to tie for 11th-place honors.  Burrows (69-77=146, +2) and Valley (72-74=146, +2) registered two stroke over par totals.  

Junior Garrett Simons (Grand Ledge) produced a season-best 147 score (71-76=147, +3) to garner a share of 18th place.  Redshirt freshman Tyler Robinson (Haslett) generated a two-round 157-stroke total (79-78=157, +13) to finish in a five-way tie for 80th place. 

The Bulldogs will be in action April 11-12 at the NCAA-II Midwest Region Tournament III in Noblesville, Ind.
