Men's Golf Occupies Third Place After Round One Of NCAA Super Regional

Paced by senior Eric Lilleboe (Okemos/Lansing Catholic Central), the Ferris State University men's golf team fired a one-under par 287 on the first day of competition this Monday (May 3) at the 2010 NCAA Division II Midwest/South Central Super Regional in Duncan, Okla.

The Bulldogs are currently two strokes behind second-place Central Missouri (285, -3) entering Tuesday's (May 4) second round.  Wayne State leads the field with a 10-under 278 on the par 72, 7,077-yard The Territory Golf Club course.

Eric Lilleboe fired a four-under par 68 and is presently tied with three other individuals for second-place honors.  Wayne State's Aaron Peterson leads the way after shooting a six-under 66-stroke total.

A pair of juniors, Joe Brown (St. Ignace/LaSalle) and Garrett Simons (Grand Ledge) are midst a seven-way deadlock for sixth place with two-under par 70 scores.

Kurt Valley (Bay City/Western) along with Craig Burrows (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Olmstead Falls), both seniors, are tied for 81st place as a result of carding seven-over par 79-stroke totals. 

The top five teams and the top two individuals not affiliated with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will qualify for the 2010 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships (May 18-21) at The Sagamore Club course in Noblesville, Ind.

The Bulldogs, who are making their eighth consecutive regional appearance to date this spring, will commence second-round play this Tuesday (May 4) in the 54-hole tournament.
