Men's Golf Takes Fifth At NCAA Midwest Regional Fall Event

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team completed the NCAA Midwest Fall Regional #2 event with a fifth-place team finish on Tuesday (Oct. 15) at Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Mo.

The fifth-place team finish came in a field of 23 competing teams as FSU shot 605 overall.  FSU carded a first-day 302 team score in Monday's opening round before wrapping up the tournament with a 303 score on Tuesday over the final 18 holes in the 36-hole event.

Malone won the team championship with a 575 figure followed by Missouri-St. Louis (594), Ashland (600) and Wayne State (603) in the top five overall along with FSU.

Ferris State was led by Ben Cook, who shot a 147 to place ninth individually in the field.  He was one-under with a 71 on Monday before coming back with a 76 in the final round.

Senior Trent Davison placed tied for 10th at 148 on rounds of 73 and 75 over the two days, respectively. Next in line was Chris Eaton, who tied for 42nd overall with a 154 figure as he shot 80 on day one before firing a 74 in the final round.

FSU's Sam Stark tied for 62nd overall with rounds of 78 and 79 for a 157 total while Andrew Jared wound up tied for 78th overall at 160 on scores of 82 and 78 in the two rounds.

Malone's Tyler Light claimed the individual crown with a 137 score as he posted a 69 in round one followed by a 68 in the final round to beat teammate Nate Tarter by four strokes.

The tournament wrapped up the fall campaign for the Bulldogs, who will resume their quest for a 12th-straight NCAA Tournament appearance in the spring.
