Big Rapids, Mich. - A former Ferris State University men's golfer will be among the 2015 Michigan Golf Hall of Fame inductees as a special ceremony takes place on Sunday (June 7) at the Hall's new home on the FSU campus in Big Rapids.

Former Bulldog golfer and longtime professional Scott Hebert will join another FSU alumnus, David Kendall, along with fellow inductees Greg Davies and Kelly Robbins as part of this year's class. The four new inductees will put the hall's membership at 109 individuals.

The induction ceremony will take place at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Conference Center located next to Ferris State's Katke Golf Course. A complimentary golf instruction clinic begins the day at 10 a.m. followed by a golf outing, cocktail reception and the evening dinner and ceremony.

Hebert, a 1992 Ferris alumnus, has six Michigan Open championships – tying Al Watrous, a 1982 inductee in the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame, the Hall's first class. A professional since 1993, Hebert is a two-time winner on the Hooters Tour and a six-time state championship winner. He won the 2008 PGA Professional National Championship, the top prize for club professionals. That put him on the PGA Cup team which defeated the British and Irish at Loch Lomond, Scotland, with Hebert winning all five of his matches. Hebert has won the Michigan PGA championship seven times. Currently, he is the head professional at Traverse City Golf and Country Club.

During his two-year collegiate golf career at FSU, Hebert helped the Bulldogs to the 1992 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship and earned all-conference recognition. FSU went on to place 14th overall in the NCAA Division II National Championships. The Escanaba native averaged a 77.3 stroke average in his final season with the Bulldogs over 21 rounds of action. As a freshman in 1991, he played four rounds as FSU won a league title under head coach Ron English.

The Michigan Golf Hall of Fame announced its move to FSU in 2013. As the birthplace of the Professional Golf Management academic program, Ferris State University is already well respected in the golf industry. That well-earned reputation was just one of the reasons it was selected as the future home of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame. FSU's PGM program was the nation's first of its kind sanctioned by the Professional Golfers' Association of America in 1975.

The Michigan Hall of Fame Committee, a subset of the Michigan Golf Foundation, includes 17 members representing a cross-section of the major golf organizations and media, and conducts an annual election for the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame. The Hall recognizes the achievements of competitive Michigan players, but also those of individuals who have contributed to the growth of the game.

The Michigan Golf Foundation is a cross-section of all the major golf bodies in the state with representatives from the Golf Association of Michigan, the Michigan Section of the Professional Golfers Association, the Michigan Golf Course Owners Association, the Michigan Publinx Golf Association, the Michigan Women's Golf Association, the Women's Metropolitan Golf Association and media members who cover golf around the state.

The Foundation conducts the annual election for the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame. Election is a unique honor bestowed upon those individuals who have demonstrated leadership, professionalism, good character and the highest standards of conduct through pursuits associated with this extraordinary game of golf. These individuals have contributed greatly to the tradition, strength and ongoing success of golf in the state of Michigan.
