Ferris State Cards Tourney-Low 288 Score To Finish In Third Place At Motor City Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team moved up a spot on the leaderboard and placed third overall as play wrapped up Monday at the Motor City Invitational hosted by Wayne State University.

The Bulldogs shot an impressive 288 team score for the day's low round on Monday and capped the 36-hole event at +19 overall, shooting 595 for the two days of competition at the TPC of Michigan course in Dearborn. The score was tops over the two days by any team in the tournament.

Overall, Ferris State finished the Motor City/Frank Jawor Invite in third place and finished only five strokes behind first-place finisher Grand Valley State (590) along with two shots back of runner-up Wayne State (593) in the 11-team field. FSU had opened the tournament on Sunday with a 307 team figure before firing the 288 score on Monday.

FSU was led by Nathan Kraynyk, who earned runner-up honors individually with a 144 total on back-to-back rounds of even par 72 on the course measuring in at 7,056 yards. He was only one shot behind individual winner Charles Delong of GVSU, who shot a 143 figure.

The Bulldogs' Caleb Bond also placed near the top of the leaderboard as he tied for fifth place overall with a 147 total. He also shot an even-par 72 on Monday following his opening-round 75 on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Adam Arif Madzri carded a 149 to come in 11th overall, tying for the tournament's lowest individual round with a two-under 70 over the final 18 holes. He had shot a 79 in round one before climbing the individual list.

FSU's Zach Koerner shot a 156 figure for the two rounds with an 81 to open and a 75 to finish, coming in tied for 25th in the field.

Finally, Daniel Shattuck placed tied for 29th overall at 157 on rounds of 83 on Sunday and two-over 74 on Monday.

The Bulldogs also had a pair of golfers compete individually with Blake Connelly tying for 25th place at 156 on rounds of 80 and 76. FSU's Zach Gildner tied for 54th overall with a 169 total, shooting an 82 in round one followed by an 87 over the second round.

Ferris State is slated to close out the fall portion of the schedule next Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 17-18, at the Panther Fall Invitational hosted by Davenport University in Augusta, Mich.
