Bulldog Men's Golf Takes First Place At Panther Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team closed out the fall campaign with a victory as the Bulldogs finished first at the Panther Invitational as play wrapped up on Sunday (Oct. 16) in Augusta, Mich.

The Bulldogs netted a second consecutive 287 team score in Sunday's final round to finish with a 574 (+6) overall total for the 36 holes while earning an impressive 16-shot victory over runner-up Parkside, which came in with a 590 figure (+22).

A total of 10 teams took part in the event held on the par 71 course at the Stoatin Brae Golf Club. It measured in at 6,742 yards.

The Bulldogs also had the individual medalist with Nathan Kraynyk firing an even-par 71 on Sunday. He had shot a one-under 70 in the first round on Saturday and finished one-under for the tourney with a 141 total.

Kraynyk topped teammate and runner-up Adam Arif Madzri as he placed second overall with a.144 figure for the 36 holes. After shooting a two-over 73 in Saturday's action, he came back to shoot par on Sunday with a 71 to finish +2 for the two days of action.

FSU's Zach Koerner tied for sixth place in the field with a 146 score, coming in +4 for the 36 holes with scores of 70 on Saturday and 76 on Sunday.

Meanwhile, both Daniel Shattuck and Caleb Bond finished tied for eighth overall as both carded +5 scores or 147 for the tournament. Shattuck shot a 72 on Sunday after a first-round 75 while Bond fired a 73 in the final round after an opening-round 74 score.

Ferris State's Shayne Beaufait also competed as an individual and wound up tied for 12th in the field at +7 or 149 overall. He shot a 73 on Sunday following his day one score of 76 on Saturday.

Overall, all six FSU golfers finished among the top 12 in a field of 60 participants.

The event wrapped up the fall campaign for the Bulldogs, who will continue the 2022-23 season in the spring.

The Bulldog men joined the Ferris State women's golf team in winning the Panther Invitational this weekend as FSU completed the sweep of the two events.
