Bulldog Men's Golf Opens Up Spring Action At Sacred Heart Spring Invite In Florida

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team kicked off spring action on Thursday (March 9) at the Sacred Heart Spring Invitational in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The Bulldogs shot a 296 score in the opening round of the event, which took place on the LPGA International Course in the Sunshine State. FSU currently sits seventh overall in the 11-team field after day one play.

Ferris State is one of the lone non-NCAA Division I teams in the field. Purdue Fort Wayne grabbed the opening day lead with a 284 first day figure while Longwood and Howard University are tied for second after carding 288 totals.

FSU was led by the duo of Caleb Bond and Zach Koerner as each are tied for 17th in the field with even-par 72 scores in round one.

The Bulldogs' Daniel Shattuck shot a 75 and sits tied for 28th while Trent Barth carded a 77, which was good for a share of 44th place. Finally, Adam Arif Madzri notched an 80 and is tied for 62nd in the field.

Day two play takes place on Friday (March 10) in Daytona Beach.
