FSU Men's Golf Climbs Leaderboard To Finish Fifth As Bond Earns Medalist Honors at Music City Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team climbed up two spots and finished fifth overall as play wrapped up on Tuesday (April 4) at the Music City Invitational in Old Hickory, Tenn. FSU also had the event's individual medalist.

The Bulldogs carded a 584 team figure for the 36 holes of action at Hermitage Golf Course General's Retreat, shooting 298 in round one followee by a 286 figure over the final 18 holes. The 286 final-round total tied for the lowest of the tournament.

Overall, FSU was only ine total strokes behind champion Missouri S&T (575). Maryville took second (576), Northwood third (579) and Drury fourth (582) in the 12-team field.

The Bulldogs' Caleb Bond finished tied for first on the leaderboard with a 140 total. He shot rounds of two-under 69 and one-under 71 on the par 72 course, matching Ashland's Andrew Kolar and Joey Friedel of Missouri S&T. Ulitmately, Bond won the three-golfer playoff for medalist honors.

The FSU trio of Zach Koerner, Adam Arif Madzri and Daniel Shattuck all placed tied for 26th overall with identical 148 figures for the two days of competition. Koerner and Madzri both notched first-round scores of 77 and second-round totals of one-under 71 while Shattuck posted a 75 in the opening round and a 73 in the final round.

Finally, Mitchell Geik came in 62nd for FSU with a 164 score on rounds of 82 each day.

The Bulldogs will be back in action this weekend in Ohio on April 7-8 at the Bill Blazer Memorial.
