FSU Men's Golf Takes Third At Malone-Glenmoor Fall Invite As Bond Earns Medalist Honors

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team closed out its season-opening action with a third-place overall team finish as play wrapped up Tuesday (Sept. 12) at the Malone-Glenmoor Fall Invitational in Canton, Ohio.

FSU, which held the day one lead thru two rounds, carded a 305 team figure in the final 18 holes of action to finish at 888 (+24) for the 54 holes of action. The Bulldogs finished three strokes behind team champion Hillsdale (885) and a single stroke back of runner-up Tiffin (887) as a total of only four strokes separated the top four teams in the 15-team field.

The Bulldogs had shot a first-round 294 score followed by a 289 mark in round two.

Individually, Ferris State's Caleb Bond finished as the individual medalist. He shot a four-under par 68 in round three to finish at 204 or 12-under for the 54 holes. Bond notched a 70 in round one and a 66 in the second round while finishing 11 shots ahead of runner-up Andrew Kolar of Ashland (215).

The Bulldogs' Adam Arif Madzri and freshman McCoy Biagioli both placed tied for 30th in the individual field at 228 (+12) for the tournament. Madzri carded scores of 73 and 74 on Monday before finishing with an 81 on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Biagioli shot a 78 in the first round and fired back-to-back 75's in the last two rounds.

FSU freshman Kole Putnam placed 47th with a 234 total, carding an 81 in round three after shooting scores of 74 and 79 in rounds one and two, respectively.

Ferris State's Drayton Cleaver wound up tied for 62nd in the field with a 241 total on rounds of 77 and 74 Monday before closing with a 90 in the final round.

Additionally, Ferris State's Shayne Beaufait finished tied for 69th while competing as an individual. He fired a 76 in the final round to go with scores of 82 and 85 on Monday.

The Bulldogs will next host the B&R Investments Bulldog Fall Classic on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 18-19, at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids.
