Bulldogs Drop Series Opener to BGSU

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team fell to the Bowling Green Falcons in Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) action 6-0 on Friday (Nov. 18) inside Ewigleben Ice Arena.

The Bulldogs outshot the Falcons 39-28, won 35 faceoffs to Bowling Green's 31, and took less penalties, but ran into Falcon goaltender Christian Stoever, who made all 39 stops for the shutout.

Bowling Green scored twice in the first for an early 2-0 lead, started by Nathan Burke at 14:19, followed by Brett Pfoh at 16:20 of the opening frame.

In the second period, Bowling Green pulled away. Chase Gresock made it 3-0 at 1:42 of the second period, followed by Burke's second goal of the night at 4:55 of the middle frame. Alex Barber added a tally at 9:18 to make it 5-0, while Austen Swankler made it 6-0 at 10:10 of the second period.

The Bulldogs held Bowling Green 0-2 on the man advantage, but went 0-4 on their own power play.

Ferris State sophomore goaltender Noah Giesbrecht made 10 stops in relief of junior goaltender Logan Stein, who made six stops and took the loss.

For the Falcons, Stoever picked up the win for Bowling Green.

Ferris State wraps up the weekend series against Bowling Green at 7:07 p.m. (ET) on Saturday (Nov. 19) inside Ewigleben Ice Arena.
