Ferris State Track Squads Wrap Up Action At GLIAC Outdoor Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams concluded action on Friday (May 5) with the final day of competition at the 2023 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships held in Caledonia.

Overall, the Ferris State men's team tallied 25 points and placed seventh in the team race while the women's squad notched 24 points and came in eighth overall in the three-day event.

On the women's side, the Bulldogs were led by Claudia Wilkinson, who took third place in the high jump (5-3.75).

FSU's Nyah Tyron placed fourth overall in the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.63). Whitney Farrell came in sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:09.03). Brianna Copley was fifth in the discus (131-2) and seventh in the shot put (42-7).

The Bulldogs' Emma Stephayn finished seventh in the hammer throw (158-3) and Copley was eighth in the javelin (94-6).

FSU was also eighth in the women's 4x400-meter relay with the tandem of Tyron, Daisy Englund, Makayla Roberts and Danae Feldpausch clocking a time of 4:06.60 in the race.

FSU's Dan Hardesty took fourth place in the 1,500 meters (3:57.30) while Noah Griffith was fifth (3:57.61). Brandon Wirth finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:22.28) and Kyle Drouillard was fifth in the hammer throw (163-2).

The Bulldogs' Aaron Pierce was seventh in the long jump (20-10.50) and Bryce George came in seventh in the shot put (48-10.25). Andrew Shafley placed eighth in the 800 meters (1:57.45).

Ferris State was also seventh in the men's 4x100-meter relay with the group of Pierce, Kevin Wilson, Tyrese Beedle and Lucas Vandam finishing with a time of 46.96 in the race. Meanwhile, the 4x400-meter team of Vandam, Ethan Hamilton, Wilson and Hardesty came in eighth (3:33.76).

The annual league championships were hosted this year by Davenport University.
