Ferris State Women's Golf Holds First Day Lead At Bulldog Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf squad used the home course to its advantage as the Bulldogs hold the lead following day one action at their own Bulldog Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 17) at FSU's Katke Golf Course.

Ferris State carded a 321 team score in Saturday's round and is three strokes in front of Lewis University, which totaled a 324 score in the first 18 holes of action.

"Today was good enough to hold the lead after day one and it's always good to lead going into the final round," said FSU head coach Kyle Wittenbach.

The Bulldogs were led by Jordan Duvall, who shot a 78 in Saturday's round. FSU's Morgan Zloto was only a stroke behind with a 79 in the opening round.

Both Elizabeth Bauernfeind and Sydney Murphy shot identical 82 scores in the first round with Destiny Lawson firing an 83 to round out the FSU team scoring.

Sunday's final round of action at Katke Golf Course is slated to get underway with a 10 a.m. (ET) shotgun start.
