Ferris State's Alayna Eldred Selected To Compete In NCAA Women's Golf Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - Sophomore Alayna Eldred (Osakis, Minn.) of the Ferris State University women's golf team has been selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Championships as an individual qualifier. The announcement was made Monday by the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Committee.

Eldred will be among the participants for the 2021 East Regional that will take place May 3-5 in Carmel, Ind. The event will be hosted by the University of Indianapolis at the Prairie View Golf Club.

The Bulldog standout is one of four individuals along with nine teams from the East Region set to compete in the championships.

The NCAA Division II women's golf regional competition will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently with 9 teams and 4 individuals from non-qualifying teams at each site.

All participants will compete through the 54 holes of competition. The top three teams along with the top three individuals not with a team from each super regional will advance to the national championships.

The D2 National Championships will be held May 11-15 at TPC Michigan in Dearborn, Mich. The number of participants that qualify for the finals is 72.

Eldred will be the first Bulldog women's golfer to compete in the NCAA Championships since Destiny Lawson placed 14th overall at the East Super Region Championships in 2017.

This season, Eldred took sixth place overall at the 2021 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships held April 16-17 in Augusta, Mich., shooting rounds of 73 and 75 over the two days of competition.
