Ferris State Women's Golf Starts Strong At Findlay Spring Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team started action strong at the Findlay Spring Invitational on Monday (March 21), registering a 648 total thru the opening two rounds of competition at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington.

The Bulldogs shot a first-round 327 figure and came back with a 321 total to finish +72 for the opening 36 holes of play on the 6,048-yard, par 72 course.

Overall, the Bulldogs are tied for eighth overall in the large field of 18 schools with Anderson University (S.C.) currently leading the pack at 588 overall, which is one better than tourney host Findlay (589) thru two rounds. The top four teams on the leaderboard are all ranked among the nation's top 30 squads.

FSU's Alayna Eldred presently ranks tied for 23rd individually with a 156 total on identical rounds of 78 in Monday's action. Teammate Dani Staskowski is only two strokes back with a 158 score after shooting a 78 in round one and an 80 in round two. Overall, she's tied for 32nd in the pack.

The Bulldogs' Hope Thebo shot back-to-back rounds of 83 and sits tied for 59th at 166 for the tourney while Abby Grevel carded a 88 in the first round before lowering her score to an 81 in round two for a 169 figure, which is tied for 69th.

Finally, Lauren Kempf is tied for 73rd overall at 171 after carding scores of 89 in round one and 82 in the second round.

Final round play is set for Tuesday (March 22).
