Women's Golf Produces Second Consecutive Sixth-Place Team Finish In Kentucky

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team wrapped up a busy stretch in Kentucky this past week by placing sixth overall at the Findlay Spring Invite, which took place on Monday and Tuesday (March 20-21) in Lexington, Ky.

The Bulldogs concluded the two-day event with a 929 score over three rounds, shooting figures of 319, 303 and 307, respectively. The sixth-place finish was FSU's second in a row following a similar effort over the weekend at the Saginaw Valley State Spring Invite also held in Kentucky.

Ferris State was led at the Findlay Spring Invite by Alayna Eldred, who carded a 228 figure for a share of 15th place. She shot rounds of 79, 76 and closed with a one-over par 73 in Tuesday's final round.

FSU's Abby Grevel tied for 22nd in the field at 233, firing scores of 78, 77 and 78 in a consistent effort.

Meanwhile, Kamryn Shannon finished tied for 34th with a 237 total. She shot an 82 in round one before coming back with a 76 in the second round and a 79 in the final round.

The Bulldogs' Dani Staskowski placed tied for 40th with a 240 figure, producing scores of 80 in round one, 83 in the middle round and 77 over the final 18 holes in the 54-hole event.

Finally, Lizzie Anderson wound up tied for 43rd with a 241 mark. After opening with an 85 on Monday, she came back with a two-over par 74 in the second round before finishing with an 82 in the last round.

Ferris State's Susie Gietl also competed as an individual and placed tied for 26th in the field with a 235 final total. She opened with a 79 and finished with scores of 81 and 75 in the competition.

A total of 18 schools took part in the event.

The Bulldogs are next in action on April 3-4 at the NC4K Classic hosted by Ohio Dominican University in Ohio.
