FSU Women's Tennis Remains Unbeaten
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis
team remained unbeaten by rolling to a convincing 8-1 victory in
Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play over
Lake Superior State on Friday (Sept. 25) afternoon at the FSU
Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids, Mich.
The match was the first home encounter of the 2009-10 season for
the Bulldogs, who improved to 2-0 both overall and in league action
with the triumph.
Ferris bolted out to a 2-1 lead following the doubles round and
then swept the six singles flights in straight-sets against the
Lakers. LSSU fell to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the GLIAC with
its second-straight setback.
Four Bulldog players were double winners on the day and the group
included senior Daniela Dimas (Mexico City,
Mexico), juniors Amy Ingle (Battle Creek/Hastings)
and Tiffany Rheynard (Kalamazoo/Gull Lake) along
with sophomore Melissa Flowers (Orland Park,
Ill./Carl Sandburg).
Ingle and Dimas posted the most decisive singles wins with Ingle
taking the number one flight and Dimas capturing the sixth singles
spot by identical 6-1, 6-1 scores.
Ferris State continues its weekend homestand by hosting Michigan
Tech on Saturday (Sept. 26) morning at 10 a.m. (EDT) at the Racquet
and Fitness Center.
